Thank you for your interest in adopting! Because we receive a high volume of applications for the rescued cats and kittens in our foster care, we process submissions in the order they are received. When adoptable kittens become available, our adoption team will reach out to qualified applicants.
To ensure the best possible match for our rescues and your family, please review our core adoption policies below.
Companion Requirements
The Power of Pairs: Priority is given to families interested in adopting two kittens.
Single Kitten Policy: In most cases, kittens must be adopted in pairs or placed in a home with an existing young, friendly cat or kitten to ensure proper social development.
Indoors Only: All cats and kittens adopted from South County Cats must live strictly indoors.
Families with Young Children: Due to a lack of early socialization, some kittens are not suitable for homes with small children. Please consult with our foster coordinators to find out which kittens are the best fit for families with young children.
Every South County Cats rescue is raised in a loving, private foster home where they receive personalized care and socialization. To give your new companion the healthiest start possible, your adoption donation covers a comprehensive veterinary and wellness package:
Spay or Neuter Surgery: Fully completed prior to adoption to prevent future litters and support long-term health.
Microchip & Lifetime Registration: Permanent identification is implanted, and the registration fee is fully included.
Core Vaccinations: Initial FVRCP vaccination to protect against common feline respiratory viruses and panleukopenia.
Parasite Treatment: Preventative deworming, along with treatments for fleas, ear mites, & other parasites as needed.
Comfort Kit: A familiar adoption blanket to help your new pet transition smoothly into your home.
